Reverse Osmosis Membranes
The core of domestic depuration systems, based on reverse osmosis, lie in its membranes.
These membranes are made of a particular semipermeable material, which allows the flow going only in one direction. Reverse osmosis is also called cross- flow filtration, as the water flows brushing the membrane's surface, therefore only saults- free water shall pass.
The membrane quality is a crucial point for the correct fuctioning of the system. Poor quality products, have a shorter life span and can fail removing saults and possible polluting substances.
There are several defining parameters:
The production of permeate, or filtered water, is defined standard, when the temperature is 20°C and the pressure 4 bar. So if a membrane is given as 100 GPD (gallons per day) and the above parameters are observed, we can obtain 100 gallons, or 380 liters a day.
Another notable parameter is the rejection, that is the gap for produced water.
Generally this kind of membranes have a gap of 80%, if used at standard conditions.
Increasing the inlet pressure may reduce the gap, as well as the membranes duration.
Our membranes are excellent products, manufactured by leading American companies in the field. They last longer and stop 90/95% of the polluting substances.
We suggest you to replace the membranes if the productivity decreases and/or if the conductivity increases (parameter indicating the dissolved salts in the water).
