Filmtec Membrane 100 GPD

In reverse osmosis systems with direct production there are 2 or 3 100 GPD membranes installed in series or in parallel or two in parallel and the third in series.
Reverse osmosis membranes must be replaced according to the volume and the quality of the treated water. There are two main signals that show you if you need to proceed with the replacement: the decreasing of quantity and quality of the produced water. In order to understand the water- quality, you will need litmus papers or an electrical conductivity meter (see related products).

Osmosis Membranes operate on the waters separation principle, that divides the incoming waters into: osmotic water, permeate and rejection. Their functioning is related to several factors, in particular temperature and pressure.
The parent company indicates as performance standards: 25° and 4 bar.
On the market you can find different types of membranes, similar in shapes and colors, but we have chosen the American Filmtec, for their high quality levels.
100 GPD membranes are used for reverse osmosis with storage systems.
These membranes are free-chlorine sensitive, so verify the effectiveness of the silver activated carbon.

Tips to replace the membrane:

1) Clean the vessel before introducing the new membrane;
2) Grease the black seal with vaseline;
3) Make sure the O- ring sealing is in the correct position.

Cleaning the reverse osmosis systems is crucial to extend the membrane life span.
It is recommended to let citric acid flowing for at least 45 min inside the system at each filter's change. This measure will help you removing limescale and biofilm sediments, damaging for the membranes.
